tonywesley Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Guys I wonder if anyone can help. It sounds easy but I am having a major pain with this. Simply I have a puccka GPO structure with Staff/Pupils/Office, Windows 7/Windows XP wmi filtering etc and everything works great fro the Windows 7 computers, XP computers, XP Laptops etc, etc in school/out of school. We use redirected Start menu's etc Only issue is that I have 1/2 dozen laptops that I want to get every GPO when the user logs on in school/home the same ( which is working ) except I don't want redirected start menu's to just these laptops. Simply because these laptops only have around 10 pieces of software installed. Is there any way that I can stop redirected start menu's on these 1/2 dozen laptops ? Any help would be grateful
FN-GM Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Do the laptops start with the same name? You could make a WMI that applies to all devices but not device begging with "ltop" for example.
sonofsanta Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Or if they're the same model of laptop, a WMI filter on something common to them. You could also add every other device to a security group and filter the redirected start menu to only apply to them, but that's not as neat - unfortunately you can't use GPO security filtering to set a Deny.
tonywesley Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 I could not get this to work so it's a bit messy but quite simply I created another redirected Folder shortcut ( in the redirected start menu for staff ) call Laptops and placed the 10 pieces of software in this. Teachers happy and I can until they all get rebuilt with all the same software live with this for now :-)
