I am having some disk space issues with my wife's Lenovo ideapad. I have a 1TB drive with 917GB allocated to the c drive. According to my c drive properties i have used 897GB and only have 19 GB free. When i add up all the space from the individual folders/files in my C drive i only get 92 GB. Im assuming i have some really large file (possibly a back up or recovery image) somewhere that i cant seem to find. I have unhidden all files and run two different storage statistical programs (WinDirStat and DiskSpace Fan 4) but both programs only found 90-95 GBs worth of files. Anybody have any ideas on what hidden file could be taking up 800GB of my c drive? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What filesystem? What is the size of the block/allocation unit? You could have an unusually large number of very small files which might say they take up a few bytes, but each one will need a whole block, regardless of how much data it takes.

Which version of Windows?

Is System Restore enabled and how much space is that taking up?

Are you using any kind of backup software to backup the drive as it may be leaving it's temporary files or snapshots behind and not removing them?
