Bring Your Own Device Policy - MSc Dissertation

Hello,

 

I'm currently studying for an MSc in technology management with the OU, and (thankfully) I'm approaching the end with the final dissertation. The title of the project is "Bring Your Own Device policy: What to include from a Technology Management perspective."

 

As I'm sure you all know, BYOD is a growing trend (especially in the last 3-4 years) in ICT provision in businesses and educational establishments across the world. With BYOD, organisations are recognising that personal/consumer devices are increasingly prevalent and sophisticated. Some management of this is necessary to control risks to the organisation, and this is often done with a 'BYOD policy'.

 

I'm currently preparing a survey to collect opinions from both IT professionals and end-users about what should be contained in a BYOD policy. Would it be OK to post a link here when I'm ready? I'd really value the opinions of Edugeek peeps.

 

If anyone's interested in the topic, or has some wisdom they'd like to share outside the survey, that's fine with me!

Ah, but is it? An interesting question as to whether this is an issue with the specific technology of phones & ipads, or a more general security issue? I'll go along with whatever the Mods decide, but I'm just saying...
