Galaxy S3 back to Samsungs Firmware from Cyanogenmod

Hey Guys

 

Hoping you can help me can't find anything on Google. Basically the new 4.3 update came out for the galaxy s3 from Samsung the other day and I want to put my phone back onto this at the moment it's running cyanogen (latest) anyway to put it back to the stock firmware so I can upgrade to 4.3???

I believe that stock ROMS are available on the Wanamlite site, but I have to say if you are only rolling back for 4.3 then give Wanamlite a go - it's based on Samsung source so you have all the original Samsung features back (NFC, motion controls etc.) with the bloat removed (although there's an update package to add it back in if you want to) and you get to keep root, use a better kernel and Wanam Xposed lets you customise loads of things.

 

I've had WanamLite 4.3 on my S3 for a couple of weeks now and I love it

Find the ROM on a site, be wary as the 4.3 was pulled by Samsung for being VERY buggy. Make sure its the latest release and not the buggy as hell old release.

Thanks guys, I know but I want galaxy gear to work and it will only work on samsungs firmware. I went on Sammobile to try and download it and it wouldn't work kept saying Maximum download limit reached!!!

EDIT: I'm assuming you're using an i9300 S3, if not DO NOT FLASH THESE ROMS!!!

 

Stock: Stock GTI9300 Rom | Samsung Galaxy S III GTi9300 | Romhut

 

Install one of those and run OTA update.

 

I can't see why Wanamlite wouldn't work with Galaxy Gear, it's TouchWiz based and all the other features I lost when I went to CyanogenMOD work fine. Personally, I'd try Wanamlite first but that's just me

This maybe a bit cheeky but you don't know where I can get the 4.3 jellybean update do you Sammobile download won't work for that either. I'm on 3uk network but I bought the phone unlocked

You could try Kies? To be honest, I'd give WanamLite a go. It's based on the official, stock firmware, just with a load of bloat taken out. I don't have a Galaxy Gear to test it, but as Wanamlite is built from official source code, I'm 99% sure it should work...

I've tried kies just says I have the most up to date software although all over the internet it states 4.3 came out in the uk. Ok I will give it a go see what it's like

Have Three released it yet though? I thought Kies might bypass network update. Other alternative is do what I said earlier and flash an earlier stock ROM then try OTA update and/or Kies.

 

Shocked it didn't work in Wanamlite, the point of the ROM is to retain functionality. Are you 100% certain you're setting your Gear up right?

Also, just a thought about Wanamlite, did you install the removed apps package? It could be that one of those apps is required to communicate with the Gear...

Hi Mate, no kept the package. Theres no connection to the gear at all won't even see the phone! ! I have found the stock 4.3 update but its on sam mobile and whenever I go to download it tera.co says it has reached max download limit! Also wanamlite 4.3 seems real buggy the phone takes ages when waking it up from sleep and it will just randomly restart sometimes. doesn't only seem to be a lot of forums are talking about it to!!!

I've just put cyanogenmod on for the first time, runs so much smoother than the official roms, does anyone know if there any apps that would allows me to stream additional media from the phone to chromecast? Or is it the chromecast firmware that locks it down.

Might sound silly, but you have got Bluetooth on haven't you?

The slow wake up thing is actually a TouchWiz problem, not Wanamlite. You'll have that problem with stock too. As for random restarts - did you do a clean install? I haven't had a single restart or force close with Wanamlite...

 

4.3 is known to be buggy at the moment, in fact Samsung pulled the original update as it was causing huge problems.

 

Have you installed Gear Manager app? Struggling to find it at work but someone at xda [here] posted this link to an APK (I HAVEN'T TESTED IT, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!): DepositFiles

Plex would, although you will have to wait a few weeks for the non-Plex Pass verison to be updated to support Chromecast.

 

If you have an Apple TV, Roku or a device that supports DLNA, you could use AllCast.

 

Or is it the chromecast firmware that locks it down.

Google is only allowing a limited number of developers to create apps for the Chromecast. The SDK hasn't been made publicly available.

You'll have to download the latest ROM from their site and flash it, the dev is pretty good at making "no wipe" updates though (i.e. you only have to wipe cache and dalvik, all your apps and personal files are retained on update)

 

There was an Xposed app to fix the Touchwiz sleep issue, it simply replaced Touchwiz's lock screen wit the AOSP one, unfortunately it hasn't been updated to work with 4.3 yet.

 

EDIT: forgot to say, disabling the lock screen clock improves things. It doesn't fix them, but it happens less often at least.
