Classboard problem

Hi,

 

One of our Classboards is acting strangely. When you touch anywhere in the top left hand section of the board the pointer goes to the centre. The rest of the board is fine. Recalibrating doesn't help!

Any ideas?

How long is your USB cable? The longer it is the weaker the signal gets. Remember USB cables can be 5 meters max.

Have you checked the board for damage? If the matrix is broken (copper net i belive) this can make the mouse pointer either skip eratically around the pen or shoot of in seperate direction. Main week points is the corners.

 

Have you also tried the following

 

1. try a diffrent pen

2. remove power for 10 seconds

3. upated both the drivers and software

The reason that USB is limited to 5M is not voltage or current - it's timing issues

The USB cable is only about 2 metres long, so I think it should be Ok.

The only damage I could see was scatches on the black plastic surround. It sounds like the matrix is broken as your description is spot on. I have tried different pens and turning power off. I will try updating the drivers and software on Monday and keep my fingers crossed. My budget is zero, so I can't buy a new one!

Unfortunately, no as they are 18 months old. The school went with cheapest tender, despite my advising against it as the technical help is non existent and the projector bulbs were only covered for 1 year. So far we have had to pay for 2 replacements and they are expensive. I tried to explain that you get what you pay for! We don't have a real technician, so I end up with all the problems!
