Wordpress Theme

Hey All,

 

I've been tasked to create a website in Wordpress. If I'm completely honest with y'all, I've never created a website in my life!

 

I've installed Wordpress onto a WinXP machine using WAMP just to have a play about and I think the 2 themes that comes packaged with Wordpress is very limited.

 

Now, since I'm having a play trying to get my ahead around it all, I need a suggestion on which theme would be best suited to a school environment.

 

I'd like something free to start off with as my confidence builds up - any suggestion?

We use Mantra. Very very flexible and scalable. Same boat as you in terms of designing sites! Did a few many years ago back in the day when it wasn't embarrasing to use Frontpage Express

Have a look at somewhere like this there is free and paid for themes give you an idea of the difference. I use Joomla for our site with a Yootheme template here they also do the same templates using wordpress

+1 for YooTheme used them in the past. You do have to pay but at the very least should give you some inspiration.
