cookie_monsta Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Has any one heard of Balsamiq - MockUps for Windows? If yes, have you successfully installed it on a number of machines at the same time? Many thanks, Cookie
free780 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Looks like a exe you need to find the switches probably /s depends on the packaging.
cookie_monsta Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 I have the exe, no idea what it's been packaged in The serial name and key is the stumbling block as it's applied per user who launches the software from what I gather
free780 Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Nasty you may need to push out the file/reg key using gpp. Install it manually and see where it stores data. There is something called universal silent switch finder that can discover the /s or whatever the case may be.
sallys1305 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Yes do know of if but no haven't found multiple machine app for it - was on time limit and did ind install on 30 - as multiple attempts of msi via gp didn't work.
cookie_monsta Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Yes do know of if but no haven't found multiple machine app for it - was on time limit and did ind install on 30 - as multiple attempts of msi via gp didn't work. Using a virtual win 7 machine and Scalable WinINSTALL, I was successful in creating my own MSI file for Balsamiq with the correct Licence info imbedded with in. Manually running the MSI works, and im just about to test it via GPO.
cookie_monsta Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Phew!! Got this one blitzed!! My original bespoke MSI worked only for administrators on networked machines. Still using the Virtual Win 7 machine and Scalable WinINSTALL, I took my 'before' snapshot, giving my bespoke MSI an appropriate name etc. I copied the MockUpsForDesktop folder found in the zip file downloaded from the Balsamiq website into c:\program files (x86)\ (as advised on their installation 'instructions'). On my own PC, I then created a balsamiq.bat file containing: @echo off "Balsamiq Mockups.exe" register "" START "" "Balsamiq Mockups.exe" (remove the <>) Using a .bat to .exe convertor (from F2KO Software | Startseite) I then created a balsamiq.exe file. This was then placed in c:\program files (x86)\MockUpsForDesktop\ (on the Win 7 Virtual pc) Back to WinINSTALL, I took my 'after' snapshot and created my MSI. I have tested installing the msi manually which was successful, as was deploying the file via GPO. Launching the software as a teacher and student was seamless and both users had the same number of days remaining on the licence. Thanks to those who advised on this topic and I hope my method helps someone. Cheers Cookie Edited November 20, 2013 by cookie_monsta
