script to change hostname and auto generate Hostname

Dear all,

im new to script, i have plan to make standardize Hostname to make it easily traceable by seeing the hostname

Like …location+dept+Desktop/Laptop+last 6 digit serial (15 characters)

Kindly help me to change the hostname in my domain via script (pushing it GPO), I have 50 OU’s and location, department details in Users profile.

Though could cause issues with dns. You also need some query using mac address. How many pcs are we talking.

Why don't you just use AD description field and keep the hosts name the same

That may cause less issues as computer name is ads grounding for a pc. I know each pc has a guid but trying to pull it off and get some other grounding for the pcs id.

I'm unable to maintain ground level and lak of man power. moreover no process in rebuild OS. that is reason i need to script to automat hostname changes

my desktop engg creating new hostname each everytime for every new joinee.
