I always find the better question to ask is "What do you need them to do" once you know what you want to do then you can find the tool that's best for the job. They've all got positives and negatives so it's just a case of working out what you want to do then finding the best technology to support that.

So many times I've seen schools spend 10's of thousands of pounds on technology and then only after they've got them in do they think "ok now what do we do with them" and they end up sitting in a box in the corner of the server room for the next three years!

Hi main aim is to facilitate IT across curriculum we have high pupil/equipment ratio - quick access rather than long log on when being used in class. (Current in pupil laptops over 7 yrs old ) what to get to replace rather than just staying laptops if ither solutions avail : therefore wondering what others using ?

We havent done anything large scale only been trialling various devices between a small number of us so far but have found our preference to be towards the iPad... the range of apps that you can get is good and generally of a high standard compated to some of the ones you get on android. We trialled a number of windows tablets and found them to be clunky and fairly heavy. As for chromebooks we bought one and havent had done much with it since we got it basically just paying for an internet browser and the build quality of our samsung one isnt that great wouldnt dream of giving it to kids. Would probably snap in the first 5 mins
