Now is the time for you to memorize all the mathematical symbols you know because you will need them to solve the arrays of number we have placed below the question. You can use any amount of symbols in any order except such symbols that comprises of a number with them like cube root. Place the symbols in a manner that the equations stand valid.

 

0 0 0 = 6

1 1 1 = 6

2 + 2 + 2 = 6

3 3 3 = 6

4 4 4 = 6

5 5 5 = 6

6 6 6 = 6

7 7 7 = 6

8 8 8 = 6

9 9 9 = 6

 

I was able to solve all but the first two [Thought I had answered the second one but an alternate solution is listed: No peeking!]

! in Mathematical terms is Factorial.

 

A number Factorial is the product of that number and then each number decreasing by one until one.

 

5! is 5x4x3x2x1=120 Similarly 6! is 6x5x4x3x2x1=720 and so on.

This is why I couldn't solve the first two posed questions above: I had forgotten that, by definition, 0!=1.

 

I can't remember the theory behind it but it made sense all those years ago. I might try to get to grips with it again.

factorials represent the number of ways in which the numbers can be arranged in the sequence.

 

3! ( numbers 3,2 &1) can be arranged (1,2,3 ; 1,3,2 ; 3,2,1 ; 3,1,2 , 2,3,1 and 2,1,3 ) hence result is 6

2! (numbers 2 & 1) can be arranged (1,2 or 2,1 ) hence result is 2

1! (number 1) can only be arranged ( 1 ) hence result is 1

0! ( numbers 0 ) can only be arranged as ( 0 ) hence result is 1
