WIFI Extender

Can anyone recommend a decent WIFI extender, my router just won't cover the whole house.

I bought Devolo Homeplug. You plug one in next to your router and connect it using an ethernet cable and then use as many as you want in mains sockets around the house. We have one wifi on the landing which covers the rest of the house for us We also have a couple that you connect to with ethernet cable for the xbox and the tv.

Another router running openwrt or tomato would work well, even better if you can string a single cable between the two routers - depending on your need for bandwidth.

I started with one of these: Devolo dLAN 500 Wi-Fi Starter Kit

 

and then bought one of these to get the extra ethernet plugs

Devolo dLAN 500 AVmini (IEEE 1901/ HPlug AV) Starter Kit - (2x plugs)

 

You can also get them with pass-through so you can still use the power socket
