Smart Notebook 11 strange issue

Not sure if I am posting this in the correct thread, if not can a mod please advise.

 

Basically I have a member of staff on one of the sites I support that saved a whole bunch of notebook documents over the summer, preparing for lessons for the following school year. All went fine and she saved them onto her memory stick to bring them in first day back. However now when she goes to open them, they have somehow changed their file extension to .doc... It opens but the member of staff informed me that some of the content she added such as clipart is missing.

 

Not sure if this is user error or there is a known issue.

 

If I change the extension back to .notebook (the one that smart uses) the file wont open at all anymore. Has the user saved the files incorrectly from the beginning? (Somehow saved them as .docs by mistake) or is there a way I can fix them?

 

Any help would be massively appreciated.
