GPCore failure

I've a single suite of PCs in a 700 machine network that will not correctly get GP updates. Running an RSOP tells me computer policy has failed due to a GP Core failure.

 

The machines are set to DHCP, as are all the student computer suites, yet no matter what I do I can't seem to get past this issue.

Had this on random machines. ipconfig /flushdns & ipconfig /registerdns has worked in the past as has removing from the domain and adding it back in.

We've tried that with no success

 

We've also tried removing the policy entries from the registry and the group policy folder from the widows directory - again without luck

Anything reported in the Server event logs - Event ID 1106? Check the local host file on the failing machine.

Just had a laptop with the GP Core failure problem. Did all the usual without success:

 

Removed from Domain / Added back onto domain

Flush DNS - Register DNS

Checked Host file

 

None of which worked - then proceeded with the following:

Ran CCleaner

Disabled IPV6

Updated drivers on the network cards

Disabled DHCP Media Sense

netsh interface ipv4 set global dhcpmediasense=disabled

netsh interface ipv6 set global dhcpmediasense=disabled

 

Rebooted and GP Core Failure resolved.

 

I suspect the DHCP Media Sense disable did the tick, but will test that theory next time I get the GP Core Failure message.
