Allowing/Preventing access to recording devices - GPO

Hi all,

 

Forgive me if this is a very basic question, but I just can't seem to figure it out.

 

Basically since we've moved staff up to Windows 7, if the staff right click on the audio in the system tray and choose "Playback Devices" or "Recording Devices" they get the "The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions on the computer. Please contact your administrator." prompt as though a GPO is blocking it - but I can't seem to figure out which policy it is to give them access.

 

Anyone any idea what needs enabling? Basically the Music and IT staff need to access this, so they switch between the mic as the recording device and the computers playback as the recording device - but obviously we don't want them access control panel etc...

Edit: Forgot to mention, this is on a Windows 2008 server and a Windows 7 Client.

if i had to guess youve banned all access to control panel and as volume etc are part of control panel they are blocked. Only way i can think of is to remove the block all on control panel and replace it with whitelisted items such as volume contol (or whatever its called

 

User policies\admin templates\control panel\show only specified contol panel items then look up the wierd names for the ones they need
