Group policy - Black Screen?

Hi all,

 

Teachers have mentioned that monitors are going black during lessons, do you think that would be the monitor sleeping or a Screen Saver issue?

 

The machines are Windows 7 and I'm presuming its a power issue so I've changed the group policy setting to reflect this but thought I'd ask on the off chance some of you have seen a similar issue?

We get a black screen with a cursor occasionaly but this is during logon.

 

Is the power light on the monitor going orange to show sleep mode?

Could be the monitor going to sleep if there's no activity from the end user on their workstation.

 

Windows 7 default screensaver is a black screen, so this could be the problem.

I think I've solved it by setting up a power scheme! Its difficult because one teacher states its fine now and another in the same department stated its not working! Think I need to stop being lazy and go look myself!

Did you ever find a solution to this? I have the same issue. It does not always seem to do it and only started recently, don't know what's changed to trigger it either. A forced reboot usually solves it and login works fine afterwards.

It was a combination of changing the power scheme and increasing the time out on the screen saver sorted the issue for us.
