Dell Server Power On...

Small issue with a Dell T320 server; in the event of a power down/ cut, the server then isn't powering on/ booting to a ready state once the UPS is back on.

 

Didn't have time to power the device down on Friday noon, but wondered if anyone has come across this before with a Dell server.

 

The server is attached to a recently purchased APC UPS, which has been configured using the naff APC web console, set to power back on after 20seconds.

 

My thoughts are it is at the BIOS level, that I probably need to configure the "AC Recovery" option in System Security, however I would have thought this would have been set to an On state be default. Surely this won't be set to Off by default?!?

I try and keep our Dell Servers covered by warranty. Well worth the money to access the superb Dell Server Support; usually straight through to someone with a delightful Irish lilt and a ability to fix even the simplest Server issue without making me feel like a total mullet!

In my experience most Dell servers do indeed come with this option turned off by default. If you have OpenManage Server Administrator installed you can check (and usually even change) the settings while the server is up.
