Valve allows PC game-sharing via Steam

I've been waiting for this for a long time, such a PITA at the moment when my daughter wants to play a game that doesn't have multiple save slots (which seems to be the majority these days). I had thought of setting up a script to redirect the SteamData folder on login to solve that... glad I don't have to bother now.

 

The only question that remains for me is, will it be up to the developers to allow this for their games? If not, it could mean certain publishers stop releasing on Steam, EA for one I imagine would pull out over this.

Not all titles are shareable anyway, especially important for titles with account systems. Not that I can see EA going near Steam with any of their key franchises anyway.

 

Although Microsoft did punt this idea and both require always online don't they? Kind of hypocritical of gamers if that is the case painting Valve as a saint whilst MS are still licking their wounds for the same idea.

microsofts problem was bad press management (what got put out there mainly was you cant sell old games not you can share games with a mate)and its a bit "sucky" if you buy say forza 5 on disc and cant then lend/sell that physical disc its a pita digital downloaded version makes sense
