[sims] Filtering & Removing duplicates

Hi,

 

Our school has recently implemented a piece of software which requires a feed from Groupcall's Xporter program. We've been told that our feed may begin experiencing issues if we do not remove duplicate records in our database.

The records were:

 

Duplicates in StudentContacts(StudentContactId) Found

16784-15318 X 2

16792-16874 X 2

16833-13572 X 2

16855-16872 X 2

How would I remove duplicates from these ranges?

 

Sorry if this is a trivial task, but I've suddenly been given responsibility for SIMS and will need to learn fast!

You could do with knowing the details of the duplicates.

Make sure you have third party reporting access group and basic access to student / contact info.

Make a report based on student focus and include their name / reg, contact name, and from third party reporting part of the tree, ID, student ID and contact ID.

Hopefully one of these matches and will give you a name to work with.

 

You need to find and unlink duplicate contacts. We have this quite a lot. A parent adds their neighbour as an 'other contact' and instead of checking if that person is already on the system, say as a parent, they get created fresh. later on that record is linked to one of their younger kids who joins later, and suddenly families aren't linked together and duplicates abound.

 

With the name, you can look for them in the contacts area and check who they are linked to. Pick the correct one to stay, unlink the duplicate records. When that is all done, there is a routine in house keeping to delete unlinked contacts.

 

Hope that gets you somewhere close.
