Black Crosses on Setup.aspx

Hi

 

I'm really new to this so be gentle. I've gone through the Instructions video on how to install HAP+. I've installed IIS 8 and im using HAP+ v9.0.0424.1200 on server 2012. I go to http://localhost/Hap/setup.asp it displays but its got Black Crosses where the Ticks are supposed to be? anybody know why?

 

This sounds really nooby but how to I get it to go from Localhost to a proper website name i.e. http://www.mywebsite.co.uk/hap/setup.aspx

Make sure to use HTTPS. If 2012, edit the ~/web.config file and remove the 2012 section.

is the web.config file in the root of HAP? Ive had a look through and couldn't see a 2012 section? how do change it to HTTPS? I have typed Https and it says page cannot be displayed.

You will need an SSL certificate for IIS to use to enable HTTPS, see How to Set Up SSL on IIS 7 : The Official Microsoft IIS Site.

 

There is a Windows Server 2012 comment in the web.config that says remove this section to enable HAP+ to work on IIS8

ive removed a section that says but its still just got black crosses and I thought that SSL is to encrypt the website/connection to the website? do I have to create a new local Site in IIS 8 to add the SSL Certificate? how do I change the URL from localhost to a www. and access externally.

You can add SSL to any website in IIS, follow the guide linked above.

 

HAP+ requires SSL to work correctly. If you right click on the image that isn't loading and open the address in a new window, IIS should tell you what is wrong.

Yes, remove the mimeMap for the .svg file type

Well had a look and cant see any errors, just a warning about WMI. i have exported the log and uploaded it

I have looked through the logs and cant seem to find an issue with the HAP application. All the settings are as recommended in the installation video and its using https.

https://localhost/hap/style/basestyle.css - this doesent work on the server at all and comes up with a 505 error

https://localhost/hap/api/setup, - this does not work either and is coming up with a 505 error aswell

https://localhost/hap/api/setup/help - this does not work unless I put in the domain name and not localhost. (I used https://hap.domain/hap/api/setup/help and it works .)

When I created the site in IIS I didn't leave it as the default (localhost) I changed the Host Name and site name to sitename.co.uk

re-built the virtual server and tried again used BOTH the instructions.pdf and the HAP video. working with both of these and after getting a wild card certificate and some DNS changes I no longer get the Black X's of doom (as I called them)!
