Voice Recognition software for those with speech impediments

Has anyone out in the community identified any voice recognition software which has proven to be effective for someone with a speech impediment? We have tried Dragon, but we have received feedback that even with extensive training the software has reached a level of usability appropriate for its use with the student in question.

Would be interesting if there is some as they have barely managed with normal speech patterns for most of the world.

I think Dragon is generally considered the market leader and working with someone with a speech impediment will be problematic for any software. Is there a reason why you need speech recognition as opposed to a keyboard/mouse for this user?

I think a keyboard would be the best bet, and use the voice recognition software for people who can't type - not people who cant speak!

Point taken, however her difficulties also extend to fine motor control which makes typing problematic, hence the attempt at voice recognition but it hasn't been as successful as we had originally hoped due to vocal issues. We will have to look at other approaches, although the question is still open if anyone still stumbles upon any solutions which purport to work with those with a less than perfect speaking voice.
