At the School I work in we recently had our workstations upgraded so I had to re-install T6.

When I used to click the save or load button the files that are needed (located on the shared drive) where automatically available for me. Now when I click these buttons it takes me to the C drive.

Can someone please advise how this can be changed as it is a bit tedious to locate the folder each time.

Thank you in advance

Is it a standalone installation of NT-6 or do you mean you just installed SIMS again?

If it's part of SIMS, the locations for the files were in C:\Windows\sims.ini but your user must have access to edit this document.

It should tell the system the SIMS folder location, and also the academic year etc.

However, saying that, mine shows old out of date info and the system still knows my new location, so it could have moved.

I'd check permissions over the C drive first, especially if your workstations are now Windows 7.

Hi vikpaw,

Stand alone installation? Not sure what this means? Sims was reinstalled on a new server and then on my machine I installed T6 via satellites.

I just checked the sims.ini and I got...

[LastChecked]

SIMSInfrastructureSetup=5.590.5.0

[setup]

SIMSDirectory=S:\

SIMSSetupsDirectory=S:\Setups

SIMSDotNetDirectory=C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net

Folder=SIMS Applications

SIMSDiscoverDirectory=C:\Program Files\SIMS\Discover Client\

NovaSatellite=C:\Program Files\SIMS\SATS

[NOVA-MC]

CurrAcadYear=2013

PulsarLocation=C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net

CurrentTip=0

LastFile=S:\SNOVA\NT6\2013\aa2013_08_29c.SPL

RecentFile:0=S:\SNOVA\NT6\2013\aa2013_08_29c.SPL

RecentFile:1=S:\SNOVA\NT6\2013\aa2013_08_27a.SPL

RecentFile:2=S:\SNOVA\NT6\2013\aa2013_08_29b.SPL

LoadAcadYear=2013

DisplYearOrder=1

TchrOrder=1

SubjOrder=1

Do I have to amend any of the above?

In what way do you mean amend the permissions of the C drive?

Sorry for asking so many questions! I appreciate your help

Installing by satellites, is a standalone installation of Nova. Normally you can just run it from SIMS, satellites are standalone so you can run it independently, e.g. on a laptop at home without having access to SIMS.

The files etc. will be the same.

You need to check for setup / ini files in the Nova install folder / directory on the computer. The SIMS.ini only governs access to the Nova you run from within SIMS.

Satellite installation would have created a local folder somewhere, probably still under program files.

You'll need read write permissions on that folder.
