WithoutMotive Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 After creating new user accounts in Active Directory for our Year 7 intake (and also creating mailboxes / usernames for Exchange) we have discovered that the new users cannot log in to Outlook Web Access. We created the mailboxes in bulk as we have done before but when trying to log in they receive an error as if the username is incorrect. So far, the only way to fix it is to log in as administrator and get them to log into OWA after which, it works all the time for them. We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 under Windows Server 2003 and using mandatory profiles. If anyone can offer any suggestions, it would be most helpful.
DMcCoy Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Does DOMAIN\username work? The reason why administrator works is because its not logging in as the user, be careful with that as it can allow them to view all mailboxes. I assume OWA is enabled for the user? try turning it off and on again.
WithoutMotive Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 Apologies... ... when I said we logged in as administrator, I meant to test we logged onto the computer as administrator and then logged into OWA as the user. OWA has been disabled and enabled again to eliminate this possibility. We can try DOMAIN/username, though. Thanks.
Domino Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 what about the IIS settings for the OWA site? do they have access to it (if they're in a different group/OU)
WithoutMotive Posted September 6, 2007 Author Posted September 6, 2007 The students are in the same group / OU as the rest of the students.
zag Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Just posted this in another thread but there is a known problem with IE6 and the authentication of OWA the first time after you create a new mailbox. IE7 solves the problem. If you want another fix, try it on any machine with firefox using DOMAIN/username and it should work, then IE6 will work as well.
