Has anyone heard of this company or is anyone using them as we had a call off them and it sounds too good to be true.

Here is their blurb:-

Instar Digital aims to provide all students affordable access to the latest in learning technology, whilst enabling the educational establishment to create the most engaging learning space possible.

It’s easy to sign up, with no credit checks and a low monthly direct debit payment. Using Public Sector borrowing power, our schemes are around 35% cheaper than a like for like high street purchase.

The bit they didnt mention is about a lease.

Im just looking for feedback as we want to know what were dealing with.

We used them. Were very good. The rumour is that they have gone bust. Account managers not returning calls. "Closed for the holidays" what business does that? All phone calls diverted to World of Warranty now.

AVOID!

Yes, should have added to this things have gone tits up for them since January, we have stopped using them and can't get any answers from anyone who we try contacting. Shame really, as their scheme was good and has worked well for the first 10 months we were dealing with them. Thankfully the insurance at the moment still seems to be valid, I am awaiting confirmation from the underwriters regarding whether this will be valid for the full duration of the term if instar themselves cease to exist.

Apparantly a trick insurers use is that they take your insurance money upfront but don't actually register the device with the underwriter until the devices first claim. It means if there is never a claim, they keep the insurance money. If there is, they register the device and it is covered. Cheeky and a bit of a scam really. We are hoping to hear that all of our devices insurance are registered and valid.

Heads up people with Instar Digital Schemes.

It appears the insurance isn't valid, i am currently a student at a college with a scheme run by Instar and the WOW don't know of my existence.
