Kineas Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Installed one of these 8 port switches in the cab to power our 7 wireless AP's and I've noticed that it is getting very hot. There is an amber light on saying "PoE max" but I presume that's referring to how many AP's are connected to it, which makes sense that it's on as it's at capacity. All the AP's are on and functioning fine. Just wondering whether the heat is normal as it is powering 7 AP's and the heat will be from the resistor. Thanks.
twin--turbo Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 From the specification. ------------------------------------ PoE (46 watts of power budget) ------------------------------------ 7 devices if consuming 15.4W each will be 107.8W You need to look at the power spec of the AP and if you can the draw on the switch.
