Gaz Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I've seen a Cisco switch I want on hardware.com but as I've never ordered from them before I wondered how reputable the site was. Has anyone used them? Any horror stories? Cheers.
Willott Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Used them a number of times - no major issues. May be worth seeing if they have any refurb stock - they can usually do a good price on this. Or contact them to see if they can do better educational pricing. Cheers Will
Gaz Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 Cheers for the reply Willott, doubt I'd get edu pricing as I actually want this for a home project. I'd prefer to go for a new item and the difference isn't that great, its about £15
Gaz Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 Just spoke with someone using one of those livechat things that pop up but I always close, decided to use it and got chatting to a nice chap who convinced me to go for a refurb unit. Even going to sort a UK power cable out as its an EU unit.
FN-GM Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 We had a sent to them. They told us that they couldn't repair the switch, sent it back (after many requests from us). They changed the power supply in it with a duff one!
Gaz Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 What type of switch was it? Was it an external power supply? I doubt they would be capable of fixing any aspect of the switch, I'd contact the manufacturer about that.
FN-GM Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Cisco 2950 i think. The power supply was fine when we sent it.
