RIS-WDS - 'An invalid domain was specified' error

For some reason my RIS images (running under WDS in legacy mode) are refusing to see the domain after imaging.

I gather this is a problem with the Broadcom drivers not initialising under PnP. The rest of my sif scripts work fine, its just I get a 'An invalid domain was specified. Would you like to proceed for now etc...' error. I am imaging Dell Optiplex GX620s' with Broadcom Gb Ethernet drivers. They worked fine in the past but suddenly have started to do this when I moved them to a new server and added them to a new RIS\WDS server).

I found out hwat it was by myself. I had retired a domain controller and and even after transferring all of the roles and reoving it from the domain correctly the DNS (see Ric, it *is* always DNS) ldap, gc, kerberos and other roles were still pointing at the old server. 5 Mins of DNS editing later and problems solved.

I'm experiencing this exact same problem now, however, it's not affecting all my PCs. I have some IBM PCs and they are installing just fine. However, the HPs are giving me issues. I've checked and double checked for the drivers. If they were wrong it wouldn't get past the format stage anyway.

 

I created a "Universal" image with all the drivers so I could ditch the old separate images. It works with the IBMs, but not the HPs. However, the HP images that were working before aren't either now!

Can't stress this enough!

 

I just got the message again and manually entered the Netbios name for our domain as opposed to the full DNS name and hey presto!

 

Now, how do I fix the one thing that baffles me the most... DNS!
