Poults Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Basically, i have setup Plex as a media server on Ubuntu 13.04 but want to run it headless so i don't have to keep getting the mouse and keyboard out by my TV when i want to do anything on the machine. Whats the best way of connecting to it from another Ubuntu desktop and also my Nexus 7 on the LAN with a GUI (rdp or vnc?), with also the possibility of external access in the future. Thanks.
jinnantonnixx Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Have you tried the "Plex Remote" Android app? I used a similar thing for an XBMC server I had and it worked OK.
Poults Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 I do use plex remote for the controller, i meant whats the best protocol for controlling the server itself so i don't have to anything plugged into it (just power and network) ie: remote desktop or vnc.
jinnantonnixx Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 The xrdp package looks about the best bet. Linux + GNU = Humans Enabled: How to install xrdp on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin 1
