[sims] InTouch for emailing reports and timetables any legal implications?

Having out grown schoolcomms in terms of required functionality we are looking at moving to InTouch. Just a quick question for anyone using it.

 

I know you can email reports and timetables from InTouch to parents and students alike, but wondered if there are any legal complications (such as data protection act) or encryption requirements when emailing such information?

Doubt it, email is just as secure as sending it home on a bit of paper really!

You need to ensure that your data is accurate and up to date, so that you don't accidentally send the wrong report to the wrong parent.

The same requirement really that you have with Schoolcomms with regards to making sure your data is up to date, it's just more likely with the extra functionality in InTouch that you could make costly mistakes.

Schoolcomms can already bulk send exam and curriculum timetables directly from SIMS. (click to see below)

 

 

And your timing is great because we are working right now on adding the functionality to attach Profile and Assessment Manager reports in the same way. It will be available this year (probably for the start of the Autumn term, but I don't want to promise that until we are a little further on with the development).

 

We will also be adding the facility to write messages back to the SIMS Communications Log in the same release.
