Cisco 300, what do you lose going to L3 mode?

I'm having a bit of difficulty teasing out of the documentation what you actually lose going to layer 3 mode rather than layer 2. Is there a simple answer?

Nothing, It'll still do Layer 2 switching just like a normal Layer 2 switch. Layer 3 means it can also understand IP. You don't even have to use Layer 3 if you don't wish. On Cisco layer 2/3 switches from memory you had to enabloe it anyway using the 'router enable' command. Until then it served as a Layer 2 device.
