Good afternoon, I would like to take an image of an OSX partition on an i7 27" imac.

Does anyone know which clonezilla cd version I need to download?

No, but you could just create an image using the Disk Utility Disk Utility 12.x: Create a disk image

Hi there. I believe I have already done this earlier to an external hdd.

Say I took the image created by the Disk Utility, could I plug my external hdd into another identical iMac and open the Disk Utility in restore mode or whatever it is called and copy it over whatever OSX partition it currently has?

 

It would be a quick way of cloning a handful of identical machines.

I've not tried it but it should work, yes. There is a restore option in the recovery Disk Utility which you can choose your image and it'll wipe the existing drive.

In the end I did a restore from TimeMachine which worked a dream.

But your suggested method did also work very well.
