e_g_r Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 got mother of all colds (bird flu?) and can't get my head around a simple problem Need to share a printer in an office coz they broke the tray on one. XP Pro PC user want her own printer to share with other user who is on an NT 4 W/S machine. Set the share on XP Pc but then on NT it asks for drivers, downloaded these but still won't connect. Feel like Sh!t, head about to explode and nose running like Niagra falls. whats the simple solution (except go home and stop being a hero)
Geoff Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Put the printer on the NT machine instead. (Wont work if its usb).
e_g_r Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 Thought of that but the lady isn't for moveing her printer because its hers
indie Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 It's *hers*? Show some of that BOFH authority and move it
Geoff Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 Thought of that but the lady isn't for moveing her printer because its hers Yes, with my BOFH hat on the solution would be to swap the machines round at lunch time when no ones watching. That'll teach her.
e_g_r Posted November 24, 2005 Author Posted November 24, 2005 Come and chaps, i was aiming for the sympathy vote If push comes to shuv i'll get the PFY to go commando at lunch!!!!
indie Posted November 24, 2005 Posted November 24, 2005 With my BOFH hat on i'd remove the toner from the printer near that nice lady and replace it with anthrax

And probably without spaces. I can't quite remember the NT4 limitations as I haven't used it for a while.
