The yahoo news says "The Bank takes suggestions from the public about who should be included next, but would not include fictional characters, people who are not reasonably well known or people who the Bank thinks might cause public offence." What this doesn't explain is why Sir John Houblon is on the £50. Never heard of him. Mind you, I've never seen a £50 note either. There is a list of people, suggested by Joe Public, who might appear on the notes one day. There are several who are not well known (IMO).

I think Churchill would be a good choice. A bit controversial in his time, but with time, history has shown him to be a great leader.
