kaphc Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 I'm trying to get our Ruckus ZoneDirector to send an email if one of the wireless access points has disconnected. I've found what I think is the right section in Configure -> Alarm Settings I'm having trouble getting the email settings right though, especially the SMTP settings as we are on a managed solution with Capita on the emPSN network. I've done an NSLOOKUP on the MX records and found the server as mx02.inthehive.net but have no way of telling a port number or the SMTP credentials (I've tried my OpenHive login details but this doesn't work). Can anyone who has this set up point me in the right direction on how to go about finding the right information to set this up? Many thanks
AngryTechnician Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Just use your MX (which you've found) on the standard SMTP port (25) and no authentication. Incoming mail servers must by design accept unauthenticated mail addressed to their own mailboxes, or everyone who emailed you would have to have a username and password for your mail server. 1
kaphc Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 Thanks for the info, have tried it again with port 80 and it failed. Switched the SMTP mail server to mx01.inthehive.net (which was the second record in the MX listings on Nslookup) and port 80 and it worked. Bingo!
AngryTechnician Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 Port 80? Are you sure? That's the port for HTTP. If it's working on port 80 your mail server has the oddest setup I've ever seen.
kaphc Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 Nope, I'm not sure .... I'm talking nonsense. Just checked back and it is port 25. Am getting confused (easily done!) with the port for the proxy server settings which is 80! Sorry for any confusion.
