Hi,

I have installed SQL express 2012 on a win2008r2 server. For the life of me I cannot remotely connect to the SQL instance.

I have allowed remote connections in the management Studio, windows firewall is disabled, TCP/IP is enabled in configuration manager with all IPs set to dynamic ports.

I can't seem to connect, what am I missing? Can I use a specific tool to diagnose what is stopping me?

Thanks

Do you have just the one SQL instance installed? If you have two plus SQL instances installed on the same server, you have to include the TCP port being used by the instance you want to connect to. EG: SQL-SERVER-01\SIMS2008,1435
