Never seen this before

Just had one of our Intel Classmate type netbooks given to me with this error that Ive never seen before:

First thing that springs to mind is UEFI - is it a Windows 8 machine? I'm afraid I don't know how to fix it but that might start you on the right track.

 

Other than that, boot virus perhaps? Although it doesn't appear to be trying to extort money so probably not...

yes I think the techie was experimenting with windows 8 on this. I Cant even get into BIOS it goes straight to this after post

Only suggestion I have is to remove the watch battery for a few hours. This should do the trick.

Try what @micheal said and keep your fingers crossed, just had a skim through this thread where a user was told by Intel that only a new mobo would solve it!

Perhaps a mod can move this to Windows 8 forum as I think it is more relevant there than here. Also a possible warning for others?!

 

 

I will contact the supplier tomorrow but these things are out of the 3 year warranty now so not holding out hope of a free fix. Was hoping windows 8 might give this small touchscreen netbooks a new lease of life but looks like thats not going to happen any time soon.

Give the laptop make a ring! and get a code off them for it... Removing the battery may will not work

if so isnt the screen res (vertically) too low to run windows 8 anyway?

It booted and ran windows 8 once after first install. I got given it to look at as the touch driver didnt seem to work. It sat on my desk till the battery died, and then when i plugged it in and turned it back on to give it a try I got this error.

had to get the mobo replaced. Not in warranty. Not impressed. Beware everyone with these devices NOT to try windows 8!

I also fell foul of this issue, like you I was curious how Windows 8 would run on one of these, then found that Windows 8 does some kind of check and in doing so destroys any chances of having it run properly again. There is a around it but it is not a permenant fix:

 

When the fizzbook starts, press delete as though you were going into the BIOS

It will then display the familiar message you have got "Sorry, the computer boot certificate.."

Press Ctrl + INS

Then you should have a menu to choose to get into the BIOS setup.

Change the system to date to the year 2000.

Now you can boot into your O/S

Unfortunately as soon as you change your system date to 2013, you have the same problem again!

 

Until there is a way around it

 

I personally think Microsoft are liable for essentially bricking a lot of older motherboards, I have seen many people have the same problem online as this. No warning at all is given by MS about this before you attempt to install Win8!
