One_Minute_Hero Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 We are looking to host a whole load of resources online for students at minimal cost. each student needs a login etc. To this end we are thinking Google Drive. The students already use GMail. Has anyone any experiencing with Google Sites? I have looked at a few example sites and they dont seem overly professional. I am also looking at Joomla and Wordpress Plugins - any advice or experience here?
CyberNerd Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 We use Google sites as departmental websites which are affiliated to our main school website (drupal) and for students to create their online eportfolios. To host work for students we use Moodle as it is designed as a course management system and has integration with Google Drive (it can use Drive as a repository for files). You are right that Google sites are limited in what can be done cosmetically, but they are very good for displaying data such as PE results from a live spreadsheet, giving students an online place to showcase work and for integration with calendars etc. 1
edutech4schools Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 This was created in sites for a primary school https://sites.google.com/a/herstmonceux.e-sussex.sch.uk/herstmonceux-church-of-england-primary-school/ The staff and pupils all have separate logins that take them to work areas. 1
