lewishutchinson Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 I have an Acer Aspire 9502 (I know what you all think about Acer and i agree) i used the Recovery Discs provided with the Laptop to restore back to original setup and all looked to be going well. Went throught the whole setup fine UNTIL, when i was asked to re boot it it would not boot up unless i pressed alt + F10 at POST, this went on for around a day until the Laptop when into standby mode. NOW it wont boot up full stop it goes to the acer screen and the press F2 for boot setup has dissapeared then it goes to a blank (black) screen with a flashing cursor in the top left. All the keys work, pressing any button F2 del or anything does nothing. Alt F10 does not work im pretty stuck. I have removed the RAM and swapped the sticks round it but still no joy..I have tried to put a Windows XP disc in but it is not booting from Disc and can not get to BIOS to make it boot from disc. Any suggestions Thanks in advance
Oops_my_bad Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Check the fan/heatsink assembly hasn't popped off the CPU (which causes the thermal overload thingy to kick in and shut it off) This is 99.99% of problems with Acer's
lewishutchinson Posted August 1, 2007 Author Posted August 1, 2007 I have checked this and all looks ok...the worrying thing is the text in the bottom left on boot up "Press F2 for BIOS" has disappeared I have removed the hard drive and tried to boot with a disk in it..nothing, it is trying to access the disc but nothing happens im totally confused, I see you manchester based is there anywhere you know of in manchester where would look at this problem
Skoggmeiger Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 I take it the Laptop is no longer under warrenty?
lewishutchinson Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 no its out of warrenty, even if it did had one i would be hard pushed to return it, last time i did that with an old laptop (to acer) they returned it still broken and when i sent it away again it never came back. Hence why i have this one, its the one they provided me with as a replacement to the one they lost
harislimn Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I have the same laptop and the same problem.Did you find any solution?
