lovelldr Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Hi guys. I've never actually installed exchange server before, so am a bit noobish at all of this. So here's hoping I can stumble around a bit and sort this out. I've got the exchange server software installed onto the machine, but I haven't done anything with the actual dns settings etc just yet... I just want to get the server working correctly first. Anyway, I installed exchange 2007, and it seemed to go ok for me. I've just run the Best Practices Analyser Health Check to see if there were any problems, and it came up with a couple of critical items and a couple of smaller issues. The critical items were: Database backup critical Then the informational items were that exchange server is installed on a global catalog and that crash upload logging was disabled. So these aren't anything to be too worried about (I don't think, are they?), and the database backup being critical isn't too worrying atm, as I've only just installed the server, so there's no reason to worry about backing it up just yet (hence never had a backup , will do it when I've finished getting things sorted). I did originally have a critial error about offline address book, but I solved that by going into the server configuration -> mailbox, and choosing the mailbox database, choosing client settings, and then borwsing the to default offline database. But I'm still getting errors in outlook, saying: "MS Exchange Server reported error (0x8004010F): 'The operation failed. An object could not be found". Anyone any ideas on what this error is? And whether there is much more to do apart from add all of the users from Active Directory to exchange??? Cheers, David
danIT Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 I know almost nothing about Exchange Setup, did a little google for you: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905813 * http://searchexchange.techtarget.com/expert/KnowledgebaseAnswer/0,289625,sid43_gci1225583,00.html
lovelldr Posted July 30, 2007 Author Posted July 30, 2007 cheers for those links. did a search on google myself, and the ms link is the one I used to try to sort it out originally. will give the second link a try tomorrow when I get back into work thx again...
lovelldr Posted July 31, 2007 Author Posted July 31, 2007 Weird, but the thing works ok now?! I did update exchange to the latest roll up yesterday and left it to restart when I left. When I came in this morning, it worked fine. So dunno whether it was just an anomoly or whether it was the update. Anyway, hope everything else is ok with it
