ful56_uk Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) Hello I've taken over a school that is running helix media server. What's the best program for encoding media for the helix media server. Stuff coming off cameras from school shows Edited March 22, 2013 by ful56_uk
Norphy Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Does your school just have the Helix media server or do you have the Helix Media Library too? If you have the latter, the encoder that comes with it should be more than adequate. Just make sure that the server has the codecs to play the videos that you want to encode installed.
unixman_again Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Producer (the bit that encodes videos for HML) can be finicky and seems to have more success with encoding mp4's rather than avi's. Having said that, it cannot encode the mp4's that it produces itself. Videos without sound are a real problem. From my experience, Producer V13 works better in this regard than Producer V14. When I download videos from a camera, I always use Format Factory to reduce the resolution and file size, before I chuck it at HML.
