Hi all

I've just had a request from a member of staff who would like to make major changes to a student's timetable, moving her band which involves completely moving her from one half of the timetable to another.

He has asked me whether I can generate a draft copy of the timetable before the changes are implemented in SIMS.

Is there any way I can use SIMS or NOVA-T to create a draft or is it a case of mocking this up manually for him?

Thanks for any advice :)

Not that I am aware of, you could always do it for a date in the future and then delete the changes if not needed?

Failing that print a year/Band timetable and tell him to work it out! :p

A test server is great for this.

What is the purpose though, is it a year with many option choices?

If its a simple year / band take a timetable from a student in the destination band.

Or with curriculum assignment by student export all choices to the default spreadsheet format .

Make the changes, export new sheet.

View timetable.

Reimport old sheet so it goes back to normal.

You could do this at end of day on Friday say. No one would notice. If they like the change import the second sheet with changed allocations.

Thank you both. It's a straightforward change from one band to another but as the student has various issues, the members of staff involved (who don't know the timetable very well) want to be sure that they have checked a draft version of the new timetable to ensure that all those issues have been considered.

Both of your suggestions are really useful, thank you x
