Hello,

I have set up netowork drive. When I am at office am able to connect to net work drive but when I try from home (taking VPN to office network) I am not able to access the network drive. Running on windows 7.

I get following error message,

An error occurred while reconnecting V: to \\xxxxxxx\xxxx\xxx\xx

Microsoft Windows Network: The network path was not found.

This connection has not been restored.

How can this be solved.

Is the machine on a domain?

Do you have firewall permissions to access that location?

You can try using the fqdn of the client ( {clientname}.{domain name} ) to see if that works.

it's a unix server.

My task is, I'll have to validate a file to entries on the server for which I have mapped a drive (as mentioned above).

When ever am at office location I can flawlessly connect to it. But when connecting from home I need to logon to office VPN first. After connecting to VPN when I try to open it never opens. Also there is particualr server which when I try to access with hostname from home I cannot but when I try to access the same by IP I can. For eg there is a server with 2 instance say 'inst1' and 'inst2'. When connected from office everything works fine. but when I try from home I cannot load 'inst1' with hostname whereas I can load 'inst2' with hostname and IP.

Also when I try to access some specific URLs with hostname (when at home) they don't load. All this URLs which am talking are work related (intranet).

I guess there is some thing wrong with DNS resolution.

In my previous comment where I mentioned able to access 'inst1' with IP from browser am not able to ping successfully with IP nor hostname. Edited by mihirshah
