Black screen at logon?

Anyone else getting this problem?

 

In the last few days, loads of our windows 7 (fortunately not many on Windows 7) PC's are logging onto a black screen.

Not a black background, but the whole screen is going black.

 

Deleting the profile seems to 'solve' it, but it happens again. Randomly at log on.

 

It is 'managable', but would be nice to figure out why it is happening.

There is a hotfix for that

 

The logon process stops responding in Windows Server 2008 R2 or in Windows 7

 

That was exactly what was happening here and a roll-out of the hotfix in October to all our Win7 PC's has stopped the random black screen dead.

Did you get a black screen, because the article says blue (doubt there is a difference but just checking!)

We had a completely black screen, some had the start button showing in the bottom left hand corner (we use a third party start menu rather than the Win7 start menu). CTRL-ALT-DEL, LOGOFF would return the screen to the usual login screen, then a second login by the same person would work without a problem. From what I saw when I looked into it, it wasn't a local profile issue.

 

Out of interest, do you have any hotfix's installed? I have 85 additional hotfix's installed on my Win7 PC's as well as all the released critical updates and Win7 runs sooooo much better with them installed.
