sloughman Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) I wonder if anyone can help. I use Netsupport, I was having an issue where student wireless laptops were not showing in any teachers' consoles. After a little investigation I enabled the udp broadcast (initially both up and down) on Port 5405 on the Meru wireless controller, it worked, client wirelss laptops now showed. However it was then brought to my attention that if a teacher console was on a wireless laptop itself it would not detect ANY machines, but as soon as the teacher laptop connected via ethernet cable all is fine, clearly an issue with the controller , but I'm not sure what. Does anybody have any ideas ? Edited February 25, 2013 by sloughman
psydii Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Contact NetSupport and ask them what ports, protocols etc the teacher console needs open. Viglen and RM both resell Meru, and they both resell Netsupport School as part of their managed service offer. I imagine the solution is reasonably well know to any of these parties.
sloughman Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 Still no answer on this I contacted my support desk who had a Meru engineer on hand, and were unable to resolve so if anyone has had a similar isssue and since resolved it I'd like to know.
andydis Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 IN NETSUPPORT do you use a netsupport gateway? How many clients do you have?
sloughman Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 Not entirely sure what you mean by netsupport gateway but I think the answer is no. Client numbers is not an issue.
andydis Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 @sloughman we have netsupport and also MERU wireless, the reason I asked the above questions was to provide you with a workaround instead of enabling broadcasting. If you have netsupport support contract I would speak to them about setting up a netsupport Gateway , This will fix your problem.
