Anyone seen these? I had a play with one earlier and they are very cool.

10.1" screen made from Gorilla Glass 2, Win 8 pro, durable and great connectivity.

Plus, because it's part of the "Elite" range, it's biddable so you can get some really good pricing. It starts from around the £450 mark ex vat.

Maybe something to replace the demand for iPads in schools????? Thoughts?????

Nice, no snapon keyboard or 3g but it does have an active digitiser by the looks of it. I wonder how many thousand NZD it will be when we get a hold of it.

Saw these at the BETT show, they are amazing bits of kit. Designed to be self serviceable apparently. There's a rig you can buy that lifts the screen, and all changeable components are the accessible, and the rig comes with a complete set of the changeable parts, so if a unit goes down you swap it out the failed part, and then deal with hp after. Or so the salesman was saying. Trying to get hold of a demo unit ourselves.

Managed to get one on 2 week trial from HP.

Very nice. Agree, with all the bits it could get expensive.

Great being able to join it to the domain and get mapped drives etc. Easier to lock down / manage than an iPad would ever be. True multi user enterprise device where an iPad is a single user device trying to do the same.

The case is magnetically sealed, no screws. You can get the tool that demagnetises the case so you can change the glass and Wifi card if needed, so you can repair in house when the little darlings break them.

I like my iPad, but you can’t install SIMS on it. (I know Capatia have an app for it :ohwell:

Curios though whether they can be imaged with SCCM

Had a look at a lenovo. the Sittable dock keyboard was a joke. Sad as I usualy like Lenovo stuff.

Was very disappointed today , we installed W8 on an old Tosh Touch tablet Portege . The tablet side did not work straight off which frankly was a big utter fail for W8.

He didn't say anything about the dock. The other device I looked at was the Lenovo Twist - which was great again but I'm going to downgrade to Win 7 and try it.

Although the first one that turned up didn't twist!

With a touchscreen metro should actually be the best solution, 7 is no good for finger based touch screens, you really want a stylus. 7 may also be sluggish on the same hardware.

Yes but even so i just don't the way it works, its just not simple/smooth imho.

I was looking to test 7 to run as a hybrid with the keyboard and mouse too.

Morning all!

It is a really good bit of kit. Regarding the keyboard, you can get the "productivity jacket" that i would say is a must. You can still use the dock at the same time.

@Jon_boy1984 is right in saying that it's self serviceable. There's a video online somewhere showing you how it's done.

With it being a new product, you can get eval units but there's around a 3 week lead time. Stock of the actual Elitepad is low at the min but it will be increasing week on week.

There are stacks of accessories for it including a multi tablet charging module, docking station and extra rugged cases :)

Had my eval unit for a week now. I am not against iPads but these units offer much better all round functionality in a school environment. Can be imaged using sccm and locked down with GPOs
