rs513 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 We are currently using SIMS to track our EYFS children. The problem we have is it is restricted to 30-50 and 40-60 months when recording each Early Learning Goal. Some of the children are beyond 40-60 months and therefore we need to record whether they are entering, developing or secure for each ELG. I am considering recreating the aspects etc and adding the functionality myself but it would take a while and would be a waste of time if something was being developed for the Spring release. Anybody have any further info/ideas on this?
roundakela Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 (edited) You will be pleased to know that you are not the only school which has run into this. There appears to be no solid guidelines here and as you so rightly say no option to record a child who is working above 40-60 months. I've also raised this with our LEA who phoned me while I was typing this!!! NEWS: The Spring Upgrade to SIMS should contain updates to the tracking grids which will allow you to enter data for pupils working above 40-60 months. The updates are due to reach our LEA at the end of March for testing and should be rolled out in April as part of the Spring Upgrade. Suggest you speak to your own LEA's to see if they are working to the same timescales. We have been advised to keep manual records and then enter the data retrospectively. Hope this all helps.
