sultan966 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 In September 2012 we moved to a new school building. Some new iMacs came. I have one in my room. I was getting nasty radiation from it. I did not suspect it. I called site manager to inspect central heating radiator. There were other computers in the room. Could not figure out from where it is coming. If the door was closed within one hour the radiation will feel like burning the face. It took three months for me to realize that it is coming from nice looking new iMAC. Around six months ago few iPADS came for teachers. I took one home. We started getting burning smell. Did not suspect the iPAD. I was checking kitchen, central heating, TVs, electrical plugs, chargers, etc. My children was getting nasty headaches. Time was passing. Could not pinpoint the source of the smell. Checked the garden if neighbour was burning something. Nothing. Outside is clear. Suddenly oneday I just thought how about the IPAD. I tested. Yes it is the iPAD that is giving radiation. This is last item you would suspect to give serious radiation that gives burning eyes and headaches. Such a nice looking gadget. Apple must be using something in these items that when heated gives this radiation.
Netwacky87 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) I think he means Heat. Edit - Actually im not sure now that ive read about smell :S Edited February 13, 2013 by Netwacky87
Dos_Box Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) From Apples own forums: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2412628?start=0&tstart=0 It seems there may be a problem with the OP's battery(s) and should get it looked at ASAP! Edited February 13, 2013 by Dos_Box
Ric_ Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Do you have a photograph of your Geiger counter showing how much radiation is being emitted? 1
SYNACK Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 From Apples own forums: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2412628?start=0&tstart=0 It seems there may be a problem with the OP's battery(s) and should get it looked at ASAP! Now that makes more sense.
Little-Miss Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I think @Ric_ needs a hug today....lol!!
tech_guy Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Everybody knows iPads and iMacs radiate. They radiate the sheer joy of being an Apple product. 1
sultan966 Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 Thanks for the link. It is exactly similar problem with mine both iMAC and iPAD. I thought it was only me that felt this strange thing. It took so long for me to suspect this beautiful looking monster.
caffrey Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I'm scared, should i bring this up in a slt meeting ?
slugshead Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 This confirms it. Apple are evil. We kicked up a fuss when Microsoft tried to bundle a web browser into the OS. We didn't with apple becuase they were so shiny. Now they are putting radioactive material into the devices becuase they just know they will get away with it due to all the apple fanboys out there.
Ric_ Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I think @Ric_ needs a hug today....lol!! I'm just feeling left out because @Domino supplied me with one of those rubbish computers that doesn't have added radiation
Domino Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 And he's on the other side of the room from the Ruckus AP now, his radiation levels are dangerously low... - - - Updated - - - he barely even glows in the dark anymore... 1
Ric_ Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 @Domino is right... My radiation levels are dangerously low now that I am on the other side of the room to the Ruckus demons. 1
TheScarfedOne Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I'm scared, should i bring this up in a slt meeting ? And then run away quickly for dissing a shiny apple toy..... lol
Little-Miss Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 OMG! I'm actually LOLing.... I'm concerned about the amount of wireless in my school....can you by Geiger counters on eBay?
Domino Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 No, I've heard you can buy them on eBay though
Little-Miss Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 OMG that made me snort! Then tried to explain this thread to friends and fella....not quite the same.
TheScarfedOne Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Success...thread derailed! @Ric @Domino. Hehe
X-13 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Woah woah woah... hold up a second. If I kit the school out with macs and iPads... I can become a superhero? I shall be "middle class white man". Faster than a speeding landrover, stronger than the middle class sense of entitlement and more dangerous than a bored housewife after a couple of bottles of red.
