enjay Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I've just moved my PC to Windows 8, so thought I'd take a look at Office 2013 - when downloading it from VLSC, it also tells me I need to do various things to our server first. Is that difficult, and what are the risks? At present, this is on S2008R2 and just for my use, but I don't want to do anything which I'll regret when we come to change servers or roll this out wider. Advice and warnings welcome - thanks!
pritchardavid Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Only thing you need to do on the server is to install this Office 2013 Licence Pack Download: Microsoft Office 2013 Volume License Pack - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details Download and Install, it should ask your for you Office 2013 KMS Key, it will install this. This will activate your Office 2013 Clients That's all really, I would say no risks involved
enjay Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 Thanks. The download page also says about the Office Web Apps Server Setup Key - do I only need that if I'm going to deploy Office 2013 then, but not need it if I'm manually installing it?
AngryTechnician Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Thanks. The download page also says about the Office Web Apps Server Setup Key - do I only need that if I'm going to deploy Office 2013 then, but not need it if I'm manually installing it? You only need that if you are deploying the web apps onto your own SharePoint server. If you are just installing or deploying the desktop suite, you won't need it.
