Blocking users logging into the network on another workstati

Is there a way i can block users logging into two or more workstations. I know you can have a piece of software called Limit Logins but i cannot get it to work. Is there any scripts i can use.

There's something around that does this.. possibly in the scripts section... bit bust to find it for you but it's definitely there somewhere.

I am Using Maxlogon from Flo.

The product allow you to put users into group and specify how many logons each group should have (students = 1)

 

Before you investigate this software i suggest you monitor your DC's to see how they handle sessions. If sessions on the server 'stick' ie they stay active even after the user has been logged off for 5 minutes or so, then this is probably going to cause you more problems than the situation you are faced with now- ie students will not be able to log on to a pc for their next lesson, even though they have legitimately logged off.

 

I have been using it for over 6 months now, and i like it. We get the odd student that has to have a session closed manually by IT staff, but it has really put an end to the password sharing that used to exist and in turn it has allowed our restricted accounts to have some worth.

 

Staff need to re-inforce a policy that students must log off properly. They should allow at least 5 minutes after logging off, before trying to log on to another workstation.

 

I haven't seen any software (except netware) that addresses this issue without complications or at least some negatives.

 

This is a relatively simple product, that dosent costs the earth that really helped us tackle the issue.
