[ms office - 2010] Word Document Icon with cross through

One of the teachers is trying to open up a Word document, but there is a red cross through the Word icon and isn't allowing the file to be opened. Below is a screenshot.

 

Hopefully someone has a solution.

Looks to me like what Windows does when the laptop is working offline and that file isn't available offline.
