Impressed to see Bromcom's new Vision X being offered free to schools,MATs and LA's but as is always the case with me never get round to posting anything meaningful about it. But saw this on Linkedin by Mr Potts and he's done the hard work for me.

Its no secret I like Bromcom and one of the main reasons is Vision - its gives us, a relatively small trust, access to a consolidated data feed for our BI analysis (also use it in excel) and its a god send and enables us to focus on the design and delivery of our analysis rather than collation of data. We are only 4 schools but even at that pulling in the info we use for our Power BI dashboards for multiple MIS, from multiple reports or live feeds, would be significant task and would have certainly reduced the extent and quality of the coverage we have managed to develop in year 1 working with Power BI.

Vision X now offers this functionality to other MIS systems - so if you dont have an MIS that offers consolidated access to your schools data from a single, secure source then I think you would be mad not to explore how Vision-X could work with your existing MIS systems and give you all your data in one place. The other big win is the BI viewer that you can easily use to access Power BI reports through and avoids needing Power BI licenses for distributing to multiple users. It solves two of the big barriers MATs have delving into Power BI or just accessing any consolidated reporting, so well worth exploring if your at the start of the journey or maybe feeling the grind and limitations of less efficient methods of data consolidation.

Its free for the next couple of years apparently so this isnt one of those short term covid marketing tie in ploys - or if it is its a v generous long term one !

Oh and its a great name :)

Being able to bring data out of your existing MIS platforms and consolidate it is a really neat feature.

Many MATs are still in the process of consolidating their MIS tools across their Trusts, so any tool that can help you consolidate the data you are holding in the mean time can only be of benefit. And free for the next few years! Schools do love free! I guess we should be treating it like a long trial.

Taking that data and being able to visualise it with a tool like Power BI without having to be expert at it is never going to hurt a school is it?

More impressive work in the cloud from Bromcom. They're really shaping up as a leader in the MIS market.
